TuneTastic Tuesday

Hello all! How is your day going? I hope its GREAT!

All is well here except for a minor mishap. This weekend I hurt my knee somehow. Not really sure what I did but it hurts when I walk. I have always had a some knee pain here and there, but nothing like this. To be honest it feels like it just needs to pop and then it would be will be fine. So with this little injury I have been resting and doing light workouts. I am going to try and go for a run today, I'm hoping it goes smooth. I really don't need this kind of injury while training for my 1/2 marathon. If you have any tips on what it may be or what I can do for it leave a comment and let me know! Thanks in advance! :)

Now on to the tunes!!

Rihanna - Stay. I can't STOP listening to this song.
I absolutely love it!

No surprise here- I love the Black Keys

The song is "Whispering". Its an old song of his, but I still like it!
I randomly like to text my sister and say, " Juuussssstttiiiinnnnn". lol
We are dorks!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis- Same Love. This is a very powerful song.
If you haven't listened to it yet, go check it out.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

xoxo

Friday Catch Up

~Where have you been~(sang in my best Rihanna voice). lol Too bad you can't actually hear me singing that, because I know you would just love it!!

So, I have been MIA for a little while. Not on purpose life just got a little busy. School is taking over my life and its not fun. I had a mid term to do, work on a research paper, and a group project. Still working on that research paper, not really excited about that. Also I have been training for my 1/2 marathon, so life is a little hectic right now. I have been improving on my running and I'm really excited. I haven't been able to run outside much due to all the rain and cold weather here. So most of my runs have been on the treadmill. Below is a picture of the runs I have recorded on my Nike app.
Don't pay attention to that second one, it was a scratch. Had to restart the app.
Just two weeks into running and I am getting a little faster. Even the smallest changes make me happy!

Of course you all know yesterday was Valentine's Day. I hope all of you had a great day celebrating LOVE day. A few minutes after I had arrived to work I got a nice delivery to my desk (see below). My husband is currently out of town for work so I really wasn't expecting anything. I was so happy when I saw the flowers and even more excited that he remembered my favorite is Lily Flowers.

Since my husband wasn't here to celebrate Valentine's Day I thought I would go and surprise my little sister at school with some cupcakes and lunch. I took her a red velvet cheesecake cupcake from Gigi's cupcakes and Chickfila. When she came into the office at school she was very shocked and excited.

After work I got in my 3 miles for training and it was the fastest I have done since I started training. I was feeling real good after that run and glad to see the improvement. The picture that I posted earlier includes my run from yesterday. I went home to let the dogs out and take a shower. I decided to treat myself to my favorite sushi and it was delicious! I went by myself and I have to say it didn't feel any different than any other day, so I didn't really feel alone. This could be that I sat at the sushi bar and had my back to everyone, so I couldn't see all the love birds around. lol
How cute are those hearts??!!

After leaving dinner I decide to go by the pet store on my way home. After all love day isn't just for humans. I had to pick my furkids up a little something as well.

Needless to say the pups were very excited about their treats and they didn't last long at all.

That is an update on what has been going on with me in the past week or so. Hopefully I won't take that long of a break from blogging anytime soon.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

Friday Fun Facts

{Source}

Well hello there Friday, its so nice to see you! I am so happy today is Friday and I am ready for the weekend. I have a pretty busy weekend planned. Tonight we are going to dinner for my father in laws birthday. Tomorrow I have a full day of school work, house projects and we have some friends coming over for dinner. Sunday I have to get started on a research paper and finish up whatever project we still have going on with the house. Then I will relax with The Walking Dead Sunday night. I am so happy this show is back. I didn't give it a try when it first came out but the hubby talked me into it one day and I was hooked. Do any of you guys watch the show? This season is going to be really good. Check out this picture I made with the Walking Dead app.

Just a little creepy. hahaha

On to some fun/ strange facts about me.

I do NOT like to go inside of banks. It absolutely terrifies me. When my husband and I had to go in there recently for our home loan I was so paranoid. I cautiously watched everyone and wanted to get out of there as soon as I walked in the door. I have this fear of being in a bank and it being robbed. I only go through the drive-thru unless it is mandatory that I have to go in.

Another strange fact is I do not like driving over bridges. This has just come up over the past few years and I'm not sure why. I can swim so its not because I think I will drown or something. I think it has to do with that one bridge that collapsed with all of those people on it. I believe it was in Minnesota, the Mississippi River bridge. It kind of made me think it can really happen and you would never expect it. Its funny because if I am in the passenger seat riding it doesn't bother me. Yes, I know this is really weird. but I thought I would share. :)

I LOVE to dance. Dancing is one thing I wish I could do professionally. I have always loved it and wish I would have taken some kind of dance in my younger years. I think my love for dance came at an early age when I would watch Dirty Dancing non stop. Since then I love pretty much all the dance movies they make. I would love to be a back up dancer for some big performer. I think it would be so much fun and just something that I would really enjoy. Not sure what it is, but I am just mesmerized by people that can dance.

I Love Sushi!! Its one thing I usually can not turn down. When I was in college I was a waitress at a Japanese restaurant. It was a great job, because I got to eat sushi all the time. That's where my love for it began. I got to try new things and the staff was pretty much the sushi chefs guinea pig. It was a lot of fun. Anytime someone says sushi, I'm down!!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!! :)

Ain't Nobody Got Time for That

Hi Everyone!

This is a late post compared to my usual ones. I usually get them out early in the morning but ain't nobody got time for that today( said in my best Sweet Brown voice). I remember when I saw her on Tosh.O my husband and I could not stop laughing. If you don't know what I am talking about look it up on YouTube.

This morning I woke up a little sore from the running I have been doing and I was also extremely exhausted. Roxy has been sleeping with me so I can continue to keep an eye on her. Well she wakes me up in the middle of the night because she can't get comfortable. It varies and can be anywhere from 11 pm-4am. . As soon as she wakes up I give her a pain pill, it seems to help me get some rest her get comfortable. I only give it to her the first time she wakes up. It usually only keeps her down for about 2 hours, then I just have to deal with the all other times she wakes me up.  This has been going on since her surgery and needless to say I am one tired mamma and I NEED my beauty sleep. :)

Today I had to do my run indoors because it was starting to rain when I got off work. Boo for not being able to run outside.  When I got on the dreadmill I was surprised at how fast I started to run. I think it has to do with the fact that where I have been running has a lot of hills and the dreadmill was flat at the time. This was a nice surprise and definitely motivated me to push through my run.I even stepped it up a little at the end and left the gym feeling great. I am starting to find my grove with running and I am really enjoying it. Tomorrow is a rest day then I have 4 miles to do on Saturday.

Thumbs up for Chocolate Zico! I
just love that stuff!

Here is an update picture of Roxy's leg. Its looking really good and we go Monday to take out the staples. I know she is more than ready to get them out of her leg.

After
Before

Now I am off to get ready for bed and hope that I can get some better sleep tonight!
Happy Friday eve and have a great night!!

Training Day

Good morning! Today I get the pleasure of working from home. So I am currently in my pjs typing this, which is pretty nice. We bought a new dishwasher when we moved into our new house and for some reason it keeps giving us an error code when we try to start it. We have a repair guy coming out today to take a look, that being the reason I am working from home.

This morning I had an egg white scramble with a yummy cup of coffee. I sat at my NEW kitchen table to enjoy my breakfast while attending a WebEx meeting for work.
What do you guys think of the new table?

Now onto yesterday's run.
{source}
Found this yesterday and that is how I feel about my
training right now. Each day is a step closer!

Yesterday it was so pretty here in Alabama. Compared to the past couple of days with all the rain and cold, this was a very nice day. I got off work early and came straight home so I could enjoy my run outside. I like to run outside whenever possible. I am not a fan of the treadmill, I just feel like I don't do my best on there. Plus I am constantly saying wow only a minute has went by or I am only at 1.5 miles or something like that.

So I laced up my shoes put some tunes on and out the door I went. I was really pumped about this run and was feeling great. I ran around my new neighborhood so there was a lot of new scenery to take in. Kids were playing outside and parents were talking with each other. It was nice to see all of that, you didn't see that much at my old subdivision. I mean there were kids playing outside but the adults kept to themselves and din't really socialize.

My run was going really well until about the 2 mile mark I started getting this cramp/pain in the arch of my foot. I first experienced this issue in the last 5k I ran. I ran in some shoes that I had not ran in before and they weren't the best ones to choose for that race. Still asking myself why I did that. So I was kind of surprised to see it flare back up yesterday because I had my good asics on. A friend of mine recommended I go to fleet feet and get some shoe inserts  I think that may be a good idea, because the pain is very uncomfortable. After I started feeling this pain I slowed down a good bit. It kind of broke my stride because it was so uncomfortable  I did not want to end my run so I finished with a slow jog. I used the Nike+ app to track my progress.

I ended up with a 12:53 pace and I am somewhat ok with that. I know I am a slow runner but I also know I am faster than that. When I finished my first mile I was at a 12 mile pace. I think once I get past this foot issue I can improve on my time.

If you have ever experienced any foot issue like this let me know! Leave me a comment below for any tips!
